Meet The Team

Dr Lionel de Gouveia

Dr Lionel has completed a Fellowship in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) with the International Rehabilitation Forum (USA – 2025). He graduated MBBCh from WITS University in 2012. During his ten years of public service, he obtained five postgraduate diplomas including:

  • Diploma in Child Health (CMSA)
  • Diploma in Family Medicine (UKZN)
  • Diploma in HIV Management (CMSA)
  • Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (WITS)
  • Diploma in Obstetrics (CMSA)

He recently won the Fellowship Impact Award (2026).  In 2020 he was one of the Mail and Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans. He is a member of SASPRM, ISPRM, SASCA, SANRA, SASIM and SAVIMS.

Services

Our services include the following:

  • MDT consultations for individuals or families. Home physical rehabilitation programs.
  • General acute conditions. Not an emergency service. 
  • Physiotherapy services include strapping, needling, percussions/vibrations, cupping, lymphedema massage, myofascial release, and sports massage.
  • Specialised/advanced wound care, tracheostomy and stoma care.
  • Medication administration (antibiotics, pain management, supplements).
  • Chronic medical conditions and script renewals
  • Home-based care, frail care, and palliative care support
  • Medical and nursing reports, special motivations
  • Telephonic and virtual consultations (known clients only)
Services Areas and Travel Fees
  • Primarily based in Ballito, The Dolphin Coast.
  • Travel fees subject to current fuel price.

–  Zone A (<10 km radius)

  • No additional travel fees apply
  • Ballito, Shaka’s Rock, Salt Rock, Sheffield, Umhlali, Zimbali, and Westbrook.

– Zone B (10 – 30 km radius)

  • Palm Lakes, Tinely Manor (R300), Blythedale (400)
  • Southern borders: La Mercy and Umdloti (R600)

– Zone C (>30km radius)

  • Northern borders: Prince’s Grant, Zinkwazi and Darnall (R700)

First-time individual consultation

These consultations are one hour long and require payment upon completion (cash, card, EFT).

Other consultations costs not mentioned

Travel, procedural costs, extended consultation costs and consumables, . Most medical aids will be considered for follow-up consultations (at our discretion). Prior arrangement is required for telephonic or virtual consultations (known clients only).

Payment

  • First time consultations are cash only. Cash, card, or EFT are accepted.
  • Patients are personally responsible and fully liable for payment directly to the practitioner without any offset or delay.
  • After every consultation you will receive an electronic invoice, which can be used for reimbursement by your medical aid.

Emergency 

  • Please note that North Coast House Call is not an emergency service.

  • For emergencies go directly to hospital, or contact your chosen Emergency support provider.

Terms and Conditions

  • Additional service fees may apply (travel, consumables, minor procedures, PPE)

  • Operating hours and availability are subject to change without notice.

  • For safety reasons we reserve the right to refuse any consultation.

  • Appointment times are not exact and will depend on traffic conditions, load shedding, weather, industrial and/or social unrest.

  • Do not delay seeking definitive care if you cannot reach us.
